Mixing & Mastering

    Mastering

Mastering gets your mix ready for the release you have in mind: streaming, radio, vinyl or use in the club. I tune loudness, dynamics and tone to the medium and the listening environment.

    Two ways of mastering

    Stereo mastering

I give your existing stereo mix its final polish, refining tonal balance, dynamics, stereo image and overall loudness to suit your genre and intended release. The result is a finished master that translates well across different playback systems, ready for release.

With careful attention to detail, I bring clarity, cohesion and impact while preserving the character of your music.

    Stem mastering

The goal is the same as with stereo mastering. But instead of a stereo mix, you deliver grouped parts separately, such as drums, bass, instruments and vocals. That allows more targeted corrections than a stereo mix. Your existing mix naturally remains the starting point.

This approach gives even more opportunity to control dynamics, cohesion and clarity.

    What I do at mastering

    Tonal balance

With EQ, compression and limiting I refine the tonal balance and impact of your mix.

    Free of distractions

Clicks, unwanted noise and distortion are reduced or removed where possible.

Cohesion across an album or EP

I also listen for the coherence between tracks. By carefully matching tone, perceived loudness and dynamics, the release feels like one whole, while every track keeps its own character.

    How mastering works

    • Your mix as you have it is the starting point. I listen for what already works and what is still holding the track back.
    • First the tone: too dark, too bright or too thin gets adjusted, without your mix losing its character.
    • Then the dynamics: the level becomes consistent, but the track keeps breathing.
    • Then the stereo image: width and depth in their place, so it holds up in mono too.
    • Loudness as your genre and medium ask for: streaming, vinyl, radio or club.
    • I check on big systems, in the car and on earbuds, then deliver.

    What you'll notice

    • Your track sounds familiar on every system: club, car, laptop, earbuds.
    • It sits at the level of comparable releases without being squeezed flat.
    • The details stay audible: space and air.
    • An album or EP sounds like one whole, without any track losing its own character.
    • You get back a finished master, ready for release.

    Loudness and medium

At mastering I bring your track to the customary loudness, determined by the genre and the medium.

    • A radio version, a vinyl record, a streaming version or a club version: all of them have different properties.
    • We can also make one version that works well on every medium.
    • The result never clips (no true peaks).
