Mixing & Mastering

    Mixing

A good mix puts every part in its place. You hear what matters, the energy holds up and the track sounds like one coherent whole. Working from your individual tracks, I build a mix that suits your genre and is ready for mastering.

    What I work on

    Balance

Level relationships and automation, so the lead, the groove and the details come forward at the right moment.

    Tone

EQ and saturation to resolve clashing frequencies. Kick and bass support each other instead of masking each other.

    Dynamics

Compression, transient shaping and parallel processing. This keeps the punch and makes the track tight without flattening it.

    Space

Panning, depth, reverb and delay. They give the mix width and air, while staying mono-compatible for club and phone playback.

    Vocals

The lead sits up front: the words are clear and the tone stays clean, without the vocal shouting or drowning in the music. Backings and effects get a place around the lead, not in front of it.

    How I work

    • Your rough mix is the starting point. I listen for which choices in it are deliberate and what is still holding the track back, and compare it with your references.
    • Clearing out layer by layer: anything that doesn't contribute goes, so every part gets its own space.
    • Kick and bass as one foundation. I tune them to each other, so the bottom end sounds full instead of muddy.
    • Giving the vocal its place. The lead stays clear and up front, with backings and effects around it rather than on top of it.
    • Keeping the tension. Builds, drops and breaks keep their contrast, so the track keeps moving.
    • I listen on several systems and in mono, so the mix says the same thing in the club, in the car and on earbuds.
    • Delivering with room. The mix isn't already squeezed flat, so mastering still has something to add.

    What you'll notice

    • A clear, controlled low end that doesn't get muddy on big systems.
    • Vocals and leads that are intelligible without shouting.
    • A mix that stays recognisable on every system: club, car, laptop or earbuds.
    • A solid foundation, so mastering can enhance rather than repair.
